Cloud Computing Top 2022 Trends

Cloud computing is changing how we view technology and the world. At Cloudride, we continue to see more and more innovations around cloud computing every day. The evolution of cloud computing will be interesting to watch over the next decade. So, what can companies expect to see this year?

Cloud computing will continue to grow.

Today, the cloud is a major part of doing business. Companies are expected to spend $232 billion on public cloud services alone in 2022, increasing nearly 80 percent over 2017 spending levels, According to IDC.

By 2022, IDC predicts total enterprise IT spending will reach $3.7 trillion, with almost half (48 percent) of those funds going toward cloud infrastructure and operational expenses.

Cloud computing will scale with demand.

There are strong indications cloud computing is becoming an integral part of many businesses. However, companies still have to figure out how they can effectively use cloud solutions and how they can get their workers trained on this new technology.

Therefore, businesses also need to figure out how to keep up with cloud solutions if their demands increase or decrease quickly.

Because cloud computing is built for scalability, we expect to see more companies building their applications on the cloud.

Data centers will go mobile.

Since cloud computing is all about flexibility, organizations will be able to move their data center anywhere they need it to be. This means that organizations can set up shop in areas where labor or real estate is less expensive. They’ll be able to scale up or down as needed without spending millions of dollars on purpose-built infrastructure.

A focus on Artificial Intelligence

We predict Artificial Intelligence getting a major boost in popularity as the technology becomes more refined and accessible for businesses. One of the biggest benefits for businesses will be that AI allows cloud computing solutions to scale automatically with demand — something that small businesses won’t be able to afford on their own.

Therefore, we believe that AI will help businesses cope with extreme uncertainty by providing greater predictive decision-making capabilities.

Cybersecurity in the cloud will take center stage.

Every day, we witness high-profile breaches making cyber security an even greater priority than ever before, and this trend will continue to grow as businesses continue to rely on the cloud for storage and processing capabilities.

But cloud computing service providers (CSPs) will double their efforts to make their platforms more secure.

We can predict that the threats to cybersecurity and attacks on CSPs will increase as the volume of data they manage increases. In response, CSPs will start to move away from perimeter security approaches toward multi-layered defense approaches based on trust, transparency, and automation.

In addition, the perceived risk of moving sensitive information into the cloud will decline, but the lack of trust in cloud vendors’ security capabilities will persist. This trend is primarily driven by an inability for CSPs to demonstrate their ability to detect and prevent data breaches effectively.

Enterprise cloud will still lead the charge in 2022

Enterprise cloud services will be considered mainstream in terms of their business value. “The value of cloud services available to consumers through SaaS and IaaS platforms will increase from $408 billion to $474 billion,” reads a Gartner report.

Although there is a lot of discussion around public cloud services and how small businesses can use them, we think the reality is that enterprise cloud will continue to dominate through 2022. The largest growth will be seen in small business enterprise cloud use for simple applications rather than heavy-duty graphics or other resource-intensive applications.

Cloud and containers will grow with small business uses

Our internal data shows that smaller businesses may currently not have the IT staff or experience to implement these technologies independently, but still, many are successfully using services from Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure for hosting or content delivery purposes.

Containers and tech will grow in the cloud.

Containers and cloud-native technologies will grow in the cloud due to its scalability as a platform to build and deploy applications using containers. Containers have been around for a long time and have become an integral part of DevOps processes. The market is still in its early days for containers, but I think the technology has huge potential.

Cloudride has witnessed the vendors we represent, such as AWS, Microsoft, and GCP, add features such as database services and middleware, and this bundling strategy has also helped increase adoption.

Hybrid Cloud from Public Cloud Vendors is offering a single interface for cloud usage across multiple public providers. Therefore, businesses are increasingly using public clouds for computing, storage, database, and application hosting purposes. The hybrid cloud strategy is gaining popularity among enterprises due to its low-cost structure compared to private clouds.

At Cloudride, we know that businesses want faster time to value, increased flexibility, and better cost control. We can help you achieve all of this with expert cloud migration and performance and cost optimization services. Contact us here to get started!
